About Lake Allatoona

It may be one of the smallest of the nine Great Lakes of Georgia, but Allatoona Lake offers much more than its size can handle.

Sitting at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this lake community has held on to the richness of American history amidst new developments in the area. Allatoona Lake was a significant location during the Civil War, and part of this history has been preserved in the community’s exploration sites. Its pristine and natural beauty has become a haven for nature lovers.

Despite its preservation of the past, Allatoona Lake has kept up with statewide development programs and has become a tourist-friendly destination over the years. Much of its appeal may be attributed to the Red Top Mountain State Park, considered by many as one of Georgia’s most visited parks. Meanwhile, its shoreline spanning 270 miles hosts several accommodation options such as luxury hotels and bed-and-breakfast sites. And because many of the vacation hotspots are near the lake, you can enjoy the water activities at Allatoona Lake, like boating, fishing, and jet skiing.
